• Today is National Stress Awareness Day, a reminder of the prevalence of stress in our lives, its negative health impacts and the importance of learning how to manage it. We know that the vital work our members and first responder partners do is difficult and frequently stressful, and we hope you can take the opportunity to pause for at least a few minutes to take a deep breath, relax your muscles, become aware of how you’re feeling and reset. Today and every day, please show yourself compassion, ask for help if you need it and remember that CCSO is always here to support you.

• Daylight Saving Time ends this Sunday, November 1 — don't forget to set your clocks one hour earlier! As tempting as it may be to use your “extra” hour to stay up late celebrating Halloween, the time change can cause fatigue, sleep issues and mood disturbances by disrupting your circadian rhythms for several days, so please try to get good rest, be vigilant at work and while driving (especially as it gets dark earlier in the coming days), and as always, stay safe.

• Today our country pays tribute to the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers, paramedics, EMTs, firefighters and 9-1-1 operators who put their lives on the line to answer the call for help in times of crisis. It’s an opportunity to show appreciation and support for the brave, caring men and women who keep our communities safe day in and day out, as well as to remember fallen heroes like MIT Police Officer Sean Collier (EOW April 18, 2013), whose brother Andrew tirelessly advocated to get this observance officially established in 2019.

  Your lifesaving work is deeply valued each and every day, but CCSO is happy to take this occasion to thank all of our members and the rest of our first responder family for your courage and dedication. Happy National First Responders Day!

• ISP Chapter held a workshop on October 21 to provide members with essential information and updates about the organization. In multiple sessions held throughout the day, attendees received details on chapter leadership, vendors and professional partners, CCSO's history and mission, member benefits, supervisor rights and responsibilities, and more, all while enjoying continental breakfast, pizza, raffles and CCSO swag.
